Hippocrepis Emerus

            A 0,5 to 2 m tall deciduous shrub, it develops erect and angular stems very ramified. The leaves are composed of 2-4 pairs of elliptical leaves up to 2 cm long. The papilionaceous flowers, grouped in 2-3 pendulous inflorescences, are light yellow.At our latitudes it blooms between April and June.
Species of central and southern European origin, it is diffused from northern Spain to the countries of southern Europe up to Scandinavia, Ukraine, Turkey, Asia Minor and Tunisia. It grows in dry and warm soils, in sparse forests, in bushes and on rocky slopes.
It’s a great forage, especially for rabbits who like it. Sometimes it’s grown for ornamental purposes.
