Falls in the Fall

            Falls of Acharn, Nr. Kenmore, Perth & Kinross

One from my October trip to Scotland. I'd seen a few photos of these falls and one dreary morning set off to find them. Luckily I bagged an on-road parking spot and after a short, steepish walk up a track I was there. The image is a base ISO 800 shot as there was a bit of wind and then to get the texture I wanted in the water I took various shots at different shutter speeds varying my ISO to get the same overall exposure. I picked the  the two shots I liked the best and blended those with the base image. 

I took various portrait shots of the falls but preferred this one using the walkway to direct your eye to the falls.

The Falls of Acharn, are a series of waterfalls with a total height of 24.5 metres (80 ft) set in a steep wooded gorge. They are a popular tourist attraction on the nearby Acharn Burn south of the hamlet.  The upper falls have a timber walkway constructed by the 202 Field Squadron RE in June 1989. There is also Hermits Cave, possibly constructed by the Victorians as a kind of folly.

William Wordsworth is known to have visited the falls in 1803 with his sister Dorothy, who noted in her diary the "very beautiful prospect" available of Loch Tay from the falls. Ref. Wikepedia
