Spiral Bridge. Hastings, Minn. - a photo on Flickriver

            The Spiral Bridge over the Mississippi River at Hastings was buiin 1895. It was done this way so that traffic would be taken directly towards downtown Hastings rather than bypassing it. The bridge had to be high and level approaches would have led past the business district. "The Only One of its Kind in the World" 
Torn down in the 1950s.
