            ... in this case, "just how cute you are". 

I've had a few moments of excitement this winter, having seen some new species of birds in my garden. Each excited moment was subsequently followed by a &$£% moment after I identified them, when The Book invariably said "widespread and abundant in the South". Really?? How come I haven't seen them before then? :-)

This is the super cute long-tailed tit. He travels in a pack with 5 or 6 friends, and they only visit occasionally. They're all quite nervous but I'm getting better at hiding from them.  Apparently they don't typically feed from bird feeders but they are adapting to do so, which is what this young chap was keeping his eye on. 

(The other species I spotted is a Redwing, which I'd never even heard of before. Again, they are actually quite common around these parts.)
