Common Merganser, River Taff, Pontcanna Fields, Cardiff 16 March 2020

            I was surprised to see a pair of common mergansers/goosanders (Mergus merganser) on the river. They appear to have all already left the canal between Cwmbran and Pontypool. Further downstream, on the Bute Park side of the river was another male.
