Dry Stone Wall, Pilgrims’ Way, Thornhill, Cwmbran 9 March 2018

            This dry stone wall is on a section of the Cistercians’ Pilgrims’ Way, a network of parhs across Wales leading eventually to St David’s. The Cistercians were based at Llantarnam Abbey, but maintained granges on the mountain and hills above what became Cwmbran. I cannot confirm this is connected to the Cistercians however, and suspect it may be much later. Still, at least it hasn’t been demolished or scheduled to be built on (yet) like some Cistercian remnants at Greenmeadow will be.
