Mittelspecht / Middle Spotted Woodpecker

            Dieser kleine Kerl liebt alte Bäume wegen ihrer groben Rinde und ist deshalb nur in größeren Waldgebieten die nicht alle 100 Jahre komplett abgeholzt und ausgeputzt wurden/werden zu sehen. Er ist ziemlich schnell auf dem Stamm rauf und runter unterwegs und ich habe ihn mehr zufällig erwischt. Schon daran, dass mir in diesem Moment die zweite Speicherkarte übergelaufen ist (was nur passiert, wenn die erste schon länger voll ist ...), hätte ich merken müssen, dass ich dieses Motiv nur selten vor die Linse bekomme. :-D

This little guy loves old trees because of their coarse bark and thus is mostly seen in old growth forrests that have not been heavily logged. It was pretty quick climbing the tree up and down and it was a rather random motif. However, I should have realised that it is a rather rare find because it showed up the very moment when my second memory card stopped working because it just got brimmed. :-D
