Burnham Beeches. The lane on its eastern edge. Buckinghamshire

            (Don't look too closely, I can't find anything that is in sharp focus!)
This very beautiful narrow and winding lane runs north to south down the eastern fringe of the woodland. Rather confusingly it changes name every few hundred yards; here it's Stewarts Drive.
As much as I love this lane, my partner and driver doesn't. Although there are 'passing places' that stone curb doesn't do you any favours if someone clueless is coming the other way...delivery drivers, you know who you are. However, as there aren't any lay-bys this area of Burnham Beeches is one of the least visited and one of my favourite areas for a wander.

Lanes like this are common in the Chilterns, one of the most wooded areas of England, and of course they never lose their appeal, but I'm always delighted to find them so plentiful here in the south east of the Chilterns, so close to the ever creeping mass of London suburbia.
