Die Windmühle am Bungenstedter Turm

Die Windmühle am Bungenstedter Turm steht südlich des Wolfenbütteler Dorfes Halchter, zwischen der Oker und der ehemaligen Bundesstraße 4. Sie wurde im Jahre 1880 als Holländer – Mühle errichtet. Aufgrund ihrer Bau- und Arbeitsweise stellt diese Mühle ein in der Region einzigartiges Zeugnis dar für den Übergang von handwerklicher zu industrieller Technik. Ihr Mahlwerk ist seit ihrer Erstellung nahezu unverändert und in gutem Zustand erhalten geblieben. Aus diesen Gründen gilt sie als besonders wertvolles Baudenkmal. Sie ist zugleich eines der markantesten ländlichen Kulturdenkmäler der Stadt und des Landkreises Wolfenbüttel.
