Earl and Daryl’s Creation aka Porch within a Porch

This is a very narrow house located In a field a ways back from the road. About the only thing that made this house stand out from the road was the pretty porch with Victorian trim.
Earl and Daryl have been riding around with one of those magnetic placards on the side of their truck that says “Specializing in Carpentry and Trim Work.” The people who own this house are part timers who aren’t aware of Earl and Daryl’s reputation. Besides they do underbid every other contractor around (all two of them).
When the boys showed up to fix the porch the first thing Daryl said was, “Look at all that fancy trim, Earl. How are we going to replicate that?” Earl told him not to worry because cousin “Big Boy” Barney Bill from West Virginia had leant them his scroll saw.
The boys tried for days to get intricate scroll work and curves into the wood. Daryl was excited because he thought one of the corner trim panels looked like a chicken. He wanted Earl to duplicate that, but was immediately rebuffed. Earl was starting to get concerned himself because they hadn’t even tried to make one of the fancy balusters yet.
Earl was the idea man. He only brought along his cousin, Daryl, because his mother insisted and Daryl could fetch and carry.
“Here is what we are going to do, Daryl. The homeowners contracted with us to fix the porch. They said nothing about it looking the same as when we started except that they wanted to save the fancy scroll work. So, we are going to build a porch outside of this porch.”
Daryl’s jaw dropped. “Well, now I know why you make the big bucks, Earl. That is brilliant. Can we use the chicken scroll work somewhere.”
“Sure we can,” replied Earl. “Let’s get started. We will screen it in so it is harder to see the original porch.”
This is the result ... a porch within a porch. Please note that all the original posts and balusters are still in place and this porch was actually constructed outside of the first porch.
