Bathed in Autumn Light - a photo on Flickriver

            This is Silver Falls bathed in the Light of a Glorious Autumn Sunset.  I have taken multiple trips to Silver Falls State Park, but I think this is the first where I found a vantage point underneath this lava cave where I could actually experience both some color in the sky and light illuminating the falls, spilling inside of the cave and the surrounding foliage now  turning to the colors of autumn.  The loud rush of the falling water was my constant companion.  But I could also hear a momentary high pitch piercing sound, again and again, like birds calling, likely bats, getting ready to move out into the darkness.  I was not deterred, however, as I looked up to see ferns clinging to the canyon walls above catching the light as the sky turned shades of warm pink and mauve.  All seemed well and peaceful and there was no fear.
