Barred Owl Hunting

            There is a barred owl family in circle bar reserve in Lakeland, Florida. The one in the photograph is an adult female . She has recently become a mother. The baby owlet is too young to hunt now. So the mama owl remains alert for food all the time. On this day, a wood duckling somehow got separated from her family and came right in the territory of the owls. It didn't take long for the mama owl to notice that the duckling is an easy prey and the rest is documented in the photograph. Circle of life is very hard to observe at times !!
