MBTA Malcolm Meet

            Providence and Worcester freight DAWO (Davisville to Worcester) normally runs under the cover of darkness and is the only freight train that normally operates on this stretch of the busy Northeast Corridor.  The prior night's southbound WODA crew ran out of time and was unable to make the trip back north, so they tied their train down here just railroad west of the US Route 1 overpass. It will be brought to Worcester later in the day by Valley Falls based PR-3 once they are done with their regular customer work. 

I wasn't able to wait around for that to happen but did catch a few trains passing them as they sat on Main 4 just west of Malcolm interlocking at MP 169.9 on Amtrak's New Haven Line main.  They have 6 loads, 32 empties, and 3290 ft of train trailing a pair of four motor GEs, B40-8W 4005 and B40-8 4001, the former still dressed in the classic scheme of the independent pre Genesee and Wyoming P&W.  Hustling past on Track 2 is Keolis/MBTA train 827 almost to the end of its 1 hr 48 min and nearly 63 mile trip from Boston South Station. Leading the way is 11 yr old MPI HSP46 2015, one of 40 of the unique to the MBTA units on the roster.
