Zware windstoten en hevige regen bij het peilhuisje op de dijk van Hindeloopen.
Nadat ik in mei bij mooi lenteweer zes Friese steden had bezocht, wilde ik nu, in de herfst, een aantal van de overige steden zien.
Nou, ik denk dat we het nog een keer moeten proberen, hetzij in een ijzige (maar zonnige) winter, hetzij tijdens een hete en zonnige zomer ;- (

After having visited 6 Frisian cities under great spring weather back in May, I wanted to see some of the remaining ones now, in fall.
Well, I guess we'll have to give it another try, either in a frosty (but sunny) winter or during a hot and sunny summer ;- (

Vanaf 1886 tot 1942 heeft er op de zeedijk bij Hindeloopen een Peilschaalhuisje gestaan. Hier werden tot de aanleg van de Afsluitdijk in 1932 met een zelfregistrerende peilschrijver dagelijks de waterstanden van de voormalige Zuiderzee opgemeten.
Het huidige peilhuisje is in 2016 herbouwd op de fundering van het eerder afgebroken originele peilhuisje.

From 1886 to 1942 there was a gauge house on the dike near Hindeloopen. Until the construction of the Afsluitdijk in 1932, the water levels of the former Zuiderzee were measured here daily with a self-registering water level recorder.
The current gauge house was rebuilt in 2016 on the foundation of the previously demolished original gauge house.
