D4 Bridgnorth 9th May 1987

            D4 'Great Gable' looking splendid in green livery stands in the yard at Bridgnorth on the Severn Valley Railway awaiting its next turn of duty. This was one of the SVR's nascent diesel galas that involved visiting locos. Prior to that the home fleet was used usually involving one or both of the railway's Westerns. The galas inceased the visiting locos gradually then took a break from 1995 to 1997 using just the home locos before returning in 1998 with the blockbusters we know today. I haven't visited the SVR since the early 1990s so a visit is long overdue.
