De aanleiding voor dit kunstwerk is de wens om de Rotte en omgeving schoon te krijgen en houden. Het is een activistisch kunstwerk dat het maatschappelijke probleem van vervuiling aan de kaak stelt. We verzamelen in samenwerkingsverband nu al enkele jaren afvalplastic. We gaan dan gezamenlijk, jonge en oudere buurtbewoners, de straat op om afvalplastic op te rapen. Dit plastic is het basismateriaal voor het kunstwerk. Dit keer nemen we een specifiek soort afval als focus: plastic flessen. We vinden ze werkelijk overal langs en in het water. Ze zijn schadelijk voor de omgeving. De boodschap is dat we een schone buurt willen. Het is voor alle bewoners bestemd en in het bijzonder degenen die de plastic achterlaten op straat. Het werk laat ons nadenken over ons wegwerpgedrag en onze wegwerpmaatschappij. 
In de schelp vind je een aantal kijkgaten. Hierdoor kan je naar binnen kijken. Daar zie je nog meer afvalplastic en kleine gehaakte kunstwerkjes die zijn gemaakt door bewoners uit de buurt.

The reason for this artwork is the desire to clean up the Rotte and its surroundings. It is an activist artwork that addresses the social problem of pollution. We have been collecting plastic waste in collaboration for several years now. Together, young and old residents, we go out into the streets to pick up plastic waste. This plastic is the basic material for the artwork. This time we focus on a specific type of waste: plastic bottles. We find them literally everywhere along and in the water. They are harmful to the environment. The message is that we want a clean neighborhood. It is intended for all residents and in particular those who leave plastic behind on the street. The work makes us think about our disposable behavior and our disposable society.
You will find a number of peepholes in the shell. Through these you can look inside. There you will see even more waste plastic and small crocheted artworks made by local residents.
