Einst Teil der Ringbahn - a photo on Flickriver

            Zwischen Nürnberg-Ost bzw. Nürnberg-Ostring gibt es heute noch die Überleitungen nach Nürnberg-Dutzendteich. Genutzt werden die eingleisigen Verbindungen von Güterzügen, welche aus Ostbayern nach Nürnberg Rbf einfahren bzw. ausfahren. Einst gehörte das linke Gleis zur Nürnberger Ringbahn. Von Nürnberg-Ost konnte man durch den Stadtteil Erlenstegen nach Nürnberg-Nordost - heute Ausgangspunkt der Gräfenbergbahn - fahren und weiter Nürnberg durch den Norden in Richtung Westen - Fürth -  umfahren. Der Abschnitt zwischen Nürnberg-Ost und Nordostbahnhof ist heute stillgelegt. Die Überbleibsel der Ringbahn erfüllen heute noch einen wichtigen Zweck. Der südliche Teil der Ringbahn dient als elektrifizierte Güterzugumfahrung des Hauptbahnhofs, der nördliche Teil als Zuführung zur Gräfenbergbahn von Fürth aus. Der im Bild zu sehende östliche Teil als Überleitung von den östlichen Hauptbahnen zum Rangierbahnhof. Am 27. Februar war die Mühldorfer 247 058 unterwegs nach Nürnberg Rbf um mehrere Loks aus der Lokwerkstatt abzuholen. Kurz vor Nürnberg-Dutzendteich wurde die Lok erwartet. Im Hintergrund erhebt sich der im Jahr 2000 fertiggestellte Business-Tower.

Once part of the Nuremberg "Ringbahn"

Between Nuremberg-Ost and Nuremberg-Ostring there are still railway tracks to Nuremberg-Dutzendteich today. The single-track connections are used by freight trains entering and leaving Nuremberg Rbf from Eastern Bavaria. The left track once belonged to the Nuremberg Ringbahn. From Nuremberg-Ost you could drive through the Erlenstegen district to Nuremberg-Nordost - today the starting point of the Gräfenbergbahn - and continue bypassing Nuremberg through the north towards the west in the Fürth direction. The section between Nuremberg-Ost and Nordostbahnhof is now closed. The remnants of the Ringbahn still serve an important purpose today. The southern part of the Ringbahn serves as an electrified freight train bypass of the main station, the northern part as a feeder to the Gräfenbergbahn from Fürth. The eastern part shown in the picture as a transition from the eastern main lines to the marshalling yard. On February 27th, the Mühldorfer 247 058 was on its way to Nuremberg Rbf to pick up several locomotives from the locomotive workshop. The locomotive was expected shortly before Nuremberg-Dutzendteich. The business tower, completed in 2000, rises in the background.
