Moscow region Burcevo church - a photo on Flickriver

            Here in 1812, in September, a battle took place between the detachment of General I. S. Dorokhov and the French detachment of R. G. Sulpice. Napoleon's party was routed and put to flight.

The first information about the wooden Tikhvin Church in Burtsevo dates back to 1705, but it is quite obvious that it existed earlier. By 1730, the old Church was completely dilapidated and, at the expense of Mikhail Stepanovich Anichkov, construction of a new one, Voznesensky, was started in its place.
The temple was built in the image and likeness of the New Cathedral of the Donskoy monastery under the direction of serf master Nikifor Alekseev from the village of Makeyevo, Yaroslavl district[1]. By 1733, a two-story stone temple of original architecture was completed on the model of the Cathedral Church in the Donskoy monastery, in Moscow. On the upper floor was built a chapel of the ascension of the Lord, in the lower-Tikhvin icon Of the mother of God. In 1788, another tier of the bell tower was added, the Church was damaged during the war of 1812.

, the Church was painted red, there is no antiquity inside, all the iconostases were redone. The upper Church is high, bright, and cheerful, while the lower one is dark, with an old tiled stove
Next to the Church there was a small chapel and a parochial school building.
In 1938 he was arrested the priest, Vladimir A. Pokrovsky (who served from 1894), after his arrest, the Church was closed, and the Abbot, on February 26 of that year, were executed at Butovo (October 7, 2002, by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church attached to the Cathedral of the new martyrs of Russia). The looted Church building was used as a warehouse. It was returned to the Church in the fall of 1999, since then it has been operating and is under restoration. regular services have been held since January 7, 2000.
