Group Captain Edward Stephen Dru Drury AFC

            Church of St. Edward the Martyr, Corfe Castle, Dorset.

Group Captain Dru Drury was the son of Dr. Godfrey Dru Drury MRCS and Ethel Blanche Dru Drury.
In 1934 Edward married Emily Mary, daughter of Colonel Brigadier Guy Allen Colpoys Ormsby-Johnson. 

RAF Cadet College 1928 (Prize Cadet). Flight Lieutenant 1935. AFC 1940. Group Captain 1942. Armament Experimental Work 1939 - 1943. Served Middle East, France, USA. Died at Manby, Lincolnshire.

I've searched but have been unable to find a cause of death. There was a RAF airfield at Manby at the time so possibly some sort of accident there.

My aunt and uncle live in Corfe Castle and I asked if they had come across the Dru Drury name. This is what my aunt had to say:
'I have just spoken to Stephen Dru Drury who confirmed that Edward was his father, but he hardly knew him and wasn't sure how he died, although he thought it wasn't a flying accident and possibly a firearms incident.'
