Sinaia: Castelul Peles - a photo on Flickriver

            Peleș Castle, the summer residence of the kings of Romania, is a Neo-Renaissance castle near Sinaia , in the Carpathian Mountains, on an existing medieval route linking Transylvania and Wallachia.
It was built at the request of King Carol I of Romania (elected in 1866-died 1914), between 1873 and 1914. Its inauguration was held in 1883.
Peles Castle was built according to the plans of architects Johannes Schultz, Carol Benesch and Karel Liman. It was decorated by famous decorators JD Heymann from Hamburg, August Bembé from Mainz and Bernhard Ludwig from Vienna.
Peleş Castle is one of the most important historical buildings in Romania, through its historical and artistic value, one of the most important monuments of this kind in Europe in the second half of the 19th century.
Now it’s a museum.
