Timisoara : Piata Victoriei, Catedrala Mitropolitana si Lupoaica cu puii

            Catedrala Mitropolitana:  The ambitious project of the Orthodox cathedral with a volumetric capacity of 5000 people was realized by the architect Ion Traianescu. The style combines the religious Byzantine tradition with the Moldavian one. Its construction lasted 4 years (1936-1940), but the paintings were only finished in 1946. Because of the marshland the edifice stands on a concrete plate supported by more than a thousand 20 meters deep concrete pillars. The 63 m long and 32m wide cathedral has 11 cupolas, the greatest of 83,7m.

5m on a high pedestal, the " Lupoaica cu puii" (Wolf pups) are a replica of the bronze sculpture "Lupa Capitolina", offered in 1926 by the city of Roma.
