Coopers Hawk DSC_4115 - a photo on Flickriver

            When Agent Cooper comes to visit, the backyard becomes very quiet.  He means business when it comes to getting a meal and he doesn't pay a bit of attention to the rules.  

This image was taken from the living room window.  Company was here at the time, and we were preparing to go birding in Sarasota FL.  The best bird encounter we had all day was right here in my backyard.  All of the regular birds and lots of migratory birds were here, and Agent Cooper showed up.  

He did not leave with a meal while we were at the house watching him.  However, I am missing a couple of mourning doves and have seen feathers on the ground since this image was taken.  

I know these gorgeous birds of prey must eat, I am just glad he is passing through and is not a year-round beauty.
