Mandrillus leucophaeus - Bio-Cup 2019 Entry

Built for the 2019 Bio-Cup preliminary round, theme being "Scary Monsters".

This MOC is of course based off a real animal, and though it's not really fair to refer to any real creature as a "monster", after studying these guys for an essay in my final year I always found them kind of chilling. They have a few distressingly human traits mixed in with dog and lion-like ones, including a set of huge fangs meant only for fighting one another. This MOC in particular is built to show off its teeth-bared, hackles-raised stress response, much as I felt when stress got the better of me at university... They're usually a little more chill.

Drills are critically endangered according to the IUCN, confined only to a small island and part of mainland Nigeria. The Pandrillus Foundation is working on bringing them back from the brink.
