The Welsh Valleys - a little corner of France ?

            French-owned transport giant Veolia bought Bebb and Pullman Coaches in 2006, and went on to buy Shamrock, Longs of Abercraf, Hawkes of Waunarlwydd and Merlyns of Skewen.

The South Wales fleet operated Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10M N769 WRC that had been acquired with an N-reg Alexander Strider-bodied B10B from Nottingham City Transport in late 2009.  Sister N771 WRC arrived in 2010.  She was initially allocated to Treforest depot, operating mostly on former Shamrock Service X6 (Aberdare-Mountain Ash-Pontypridd-Cardiff), and then to Newport depot for Monmouthshire County Council-contracted services.

This April 2010 shot of her was taken in Pontypridd as she was entering Gelliwastad Road on an X6 run up the Cynon Valley to Aberdare.

And just over a year later, Veolia has pulled out of South Wales.
