Although attributed to architect Sir Charles Lanyon, some architectural historians believe that the castle was actually designed by either his business partner, and former apprentice, W.H. Lynn, or by Sir Charles's son John Lanyon.

Proverbs 18:10  says:
"The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe." 

But, who is "righteous"? 

Romans 3:10-11 does not appear to hold out much hope...
"There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God." 

This is a dilemma... God promises to save the righteous who run to Him for salvation, yet elsewhere the Bible tells us that no one is intrinsically righteous.  In fact, "we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."  (Isaiah 64:6)

So, no amount of "good works" will ever overcome the inherent lack of righteousness in us.  According to the Bible, there is nothing we can do to make ourselves righteous in God's eyes.  No amount of charitable giving, no pilgrimmages, no penance, no amount of religious observance will ever make up for our intrinsic lack of righteousness.

However, God promises that faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, the Messiah, enables His righteousness to be credited to us - thereby enabling us to be reconciled to God:

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Romans 4:5)
