Snowflakes 3 on a red scarf - a photo on Flickriver

            Here is a third snowflake on a red woolen scarf. I was pretty lucky with it : the wind blown it away the second after. Fortunately, I had a sharp shot at first try, which was generally not the case. I am pretty happy with the bokeh at f/9 which is quite natural (like with the lens without the extension tubes)

I discovered that it's not necessarily a good idea to slow down the lens to get a wider depth of field. With shutter speed slower than 1 second, even on a tripod and with only a little bit of wind, the vibrations are too important to get a sharp shot.

So I put the lens at around f/8 and put iso at 200, and it was much better (if only I discovered that sooner !!). So apparently with macro technique, the classic rule slow-down-the-lens-to-get-a-high-depth-of-field-and-a-sharp-shot is not always true because vibrations are also magnified ... It's good to learn new things, especially by experience.
