            Paul Pogge (1838--1884) war ein mecklenburger Afrikaforscher. In den letzten Monaten war um die Büste ein heftiger Streit entbrannt, da sich Pogge, wie viele seiner Zeitgenossen, rassistisch geäußert hatte, und auch, weil er als Wegbereiter des Kolonialismus gesehen werden kann. Jetzt wurde entschieden, die Büste an eine weniger auffällige Stelle am Rande des Parks zu versetzen und mit einem Kommentar zu versehen.

Paul Pogge (1838--1884) was a Mecklenburg explorer of Africa. During the last months a fierce dispute had broken out about the bust, because Pogge, like many of his contemporaries, had made racist remarks and because his findings might have paved the path for colonialism. Now it was decided to move the bust to a less conspicuous spot at the edge of the park and to add a commentary.
