Golzow (Mittelmark): Dorfkirche - Village Church

            Die oktogonale Dorfkirche Golzow wurde im Jahr 1750 im Barockstil auf einem künstlichen Hügel als zweigeschossige Emporenkirche mit Patronatsloge erbaut.

Golzow, ein Dorf mit rund 1330 Einwohnern, liegt rund 14 Kilometer nördlich von Bad Belzig und rund 19 Kilometer südlich von Brandenburg an der Havel. Auf unserer Tour war es das einzige Dorf, das nicht im oder am Fläming liegt, sondern in der historischen Region Zauche, dem Kerngebiet, in dem die Mark Brandenburg entstand. Eine Wasserburg Golzow wurde 1219 urkundlich erwähnt. Im Schutz der Burg entwickelte sich dann die Gemeinde. Brände und Kriege vernichteten die Burg, auf deren Ruine im Jahre 1685 ein Herrenhaus im Barockstil gebaut wurde. Es wurde am Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges zerstört. 

The octagonal Village Church Golzow was built in 1750 in baroque style on an artificial hill as a two-storey gallery church with patron's lodge.

Golzow, a village of about 1330 inhabitants, lies about 14 kilometres north of Bad Belzig and about 19 kilometres south of Brandenburg an der Havel. On our tour it was the only village that is not located in or on the edge of the Fläming hills, but in the historical region of Zauche, the core area where the Margraviate of Brandenburg originated. A water castle of Golzow was mentioned in a document from 1219. The village developed under the protection of the castle. Fires and wars destroyed the castle, on the ruins of which a baroque mansion was built in 1685. This was destroyed at the end of World War II.
