A last farewell - a photo on Flickriver

A last farewell

            Not a great day for photography, or driving up the M6, but at least we didn’t get too wet to record a last farewell to Dave Rodgers as his ashes were fed in the firebox of today’s Waverley by John Hunt.

A few of Dave’s friends joined his wife Julie and sons at Ribblehead for a record shot and a pint in the pub. 

Covid had thwarted any chance of the ritual being carried out last year with Dave’s favourite Jubilee 45562 but 35018 provided an appropriate whistle lament and even a bit of “clag”.

Heartfelt thanks to Dave for organising some of life’s highlights with his numerous foreign tours over many years, usually in better weather than today.
