White rātā/Akatea - a photo on Flickriver

            Metrosideros perforata, one of New Zealand's 12 endemic species of pohutukawa/rātā.  This plant is flowering in our garden, with nectar-rich flowers loved by bees.

The species naturally occurs in coastal to montane environments, growing as a shrub, or a climber up to 20 m long.
