Lysefjord miracle (In Explore 23-10-2025)

            One of my goals for this trip was the Preikestolen hike. I hadn't done it in 2016 because the weather was awful. But this time it wasn't. Clear blue skies and amazing clarity made a wonderful day. And although many people consider this a tough hike, for me it was a pleasant stroll up the mountain. 

When you arrive at the plateau it is difficult not to feel vertigo, because the steep walls of hard granite go down about 400 meters. For some people it is not a problem to sit on the edge with their feet dangling over the edge. There are many possibilities for making nice pictures, many of them already posted often on Flickr,  I was looking for something  different, and also to get away from the noisy crowd. Considering this was just in the middle of May, it will be awfully crowded in the holiday season.

I saw a girl some 30 meters higher up eating a sandwich, and I found the path that goes all to the top, some extra 80 meters climbing. You reach there another plateau but much larger, and you can walk around for several 100's of meters with the added bonus of having a 360 degrees view of the whole area (and hardly people walking there!). You even can see the city of Stavanger from here.  More photo opportunities, and as a result I have numerous shots, too many to post them all on Flickr. 

The shot posted here shows the Lysefjord in all its glory. There is some snow on the higher mountains, but I discovered within a few days that there is much more snow when you go further inland.
