HMAS Melbourne - a photo on Flickriver

HMAS Melbourne

            This series from the Garden Island Photo unit show the departure of the ship from Garden Island for the last time.
She has just been undocked from the Captain Cook dock where de-equipping has been completed. She was then moved across the harbour to Athol Bight for disposal.
Dockyard employees pause to say farewell to a ship which has been so much a part of their lives. To some extent it was the end of an era.
