Orcades - a photo on Flickriver

Orcades

            From a glass plate negative by the late Allan C. Green , held by the State Library of Victoria, then  given some TLC.
Completed in 1938 and a near sister to the Orion, she was the newest and most modern of the Orient Line fleet and with her loss in 1942 the company lost the jewel in their crown.
Undeterred, a new ship of the same name was laid down by Orient shortly after the war.
