Gustav Adolf grammar school, Tallinn old town

            Gustav Adolf Grammar School was established by the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf on the premises of St. Michael’s Convent on 6 June, 1631. This is the oldest continuously functioning school in Estonia and one of the oldest schools in Europe. The house now contains a museum.

Gustav Adolfi Gümnasium on asutatud Püha Miikaeli nunnakloostri ruumidesse 6. Junii 1631 .a. Rootsi kuninga Gustav Adolf II poolt. See kool on vanim järjepidevalt tegutsev haridusasutus Eestis ning üks vanimaid gümnasiume Eestis.

The old town of Tallinn is a spectacular collection of medieval houses, now restored to great beauty. If you like old cities, Tallinn is a great travel destination.
