De dam ligt in het kanton Wallis, op de linkeroever van de Rhône boven Martigny. Het wordt gevoed door het water van het Mont Blanc-massief. De Émosson-dam is de op twee na hoogste dam van Zwitserland, na de dammen Grande Dixence en Mauvoisin.

De dam van Emosson: deze dam, die in 1973 werd gebouwd, in de grootste dam in het meer. Een van de ontwerpers van deze gebogenbetonnen dam was de Nederlander Philip Jan Deinum. In 1976 werden bij het meer voetstappen gevonden die van dinosaurussen afkomstig waren uit het tijdperk Trias.

The dam is located in the canton of Valais, on the left bank of the Rhône River above Martigny. It is fed by the waters of the Mont Blanc massif. The Émosson Dam is the third-highest dam in Switzerland, after the Grande Dixence and Mauvoisin dams.

The Emosson Dam: Built in 1973, this dam is the largest dam on the lake. One of the designers of this curved concrete dam was the Dutchman Philip Jan Deinum. In 1976, dinosaur footprints from the Triassic period were found near the lake.
