USB Sugru Tiger (headless) - a photo on Flickriver

I finally got some Sugru of my own! It's a little fiddly, but I really enjoy working with this weird mouldable silicon stuff, and I've been looking forward to making USB sculptures out of it ever since I got to play with a couple of little lumps of the stuff at the Maker Faire in Newcastle last year.

It sets to a rubbery consistency, which I think is rather nicer to touch than the stone-like finish of epoxy putty - and which feels like better protection for the possibly-delicate electronics inside. Like epoxy putty, it sets on its own over the course of about a day, it sticks to anything when you first start using it, and it's quite capable of holding fine details but awfully easy to mess up.

I used almost a whole 5g sachet of orange Sugru for this, and just a little bit of black - and an unusually small flash drive, two googly eyes and a pipe cleaner.
