Angel Light

            An early morning spotlight falls on the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels, situated at the foot of the town of Assisi, Italy. It was constructed between 1569 and 1679, enclosing the 9th-century little church, the Porziuncola. This was the place where the young St Francis of Assisi determined his vocation and renounced the world in order to live in poverty among the poor. He died here in 1226.
