Sunburst for The Champ! - a photo on Flickriver

            A glorious low sun streams through the centre arch of the Grand Junction Aqueduct at Tame Bridge Parkway highlighting the distinctive profile of Class 52 No. D1015 'Western Champion' as it approaches with the late running Pathfinder Tours 'Yuletide East Yorkshireman' 1Z17 0542 Swindon - Scarborough on 17th December 2016. An initial delay due to a points failure at Kidderminster was compounded by some poor train regulation after Doncaster which reduced the layover time at Scarborough to one hour, as the charter had to clear Abbotswood Junction near Worcester on the return to beat the laying down of an overnight possession. It did-just! The aqueduct carries the Tame Valley Canal over the railway and is an unusual example of the canal being opened after the railway: The Grand Junction line opened in 1837, and the Tame Valley Canal in 1844.
