The mansion

Ein Kleinod des Jugendstils.

Im Jahre 1922 erbaute der Architekt Richard Riemerschmid für den Berliner Papierfabrikanten Max Krause diese nach dem Bauherrn benannte Villa.
Bereits 1908 war von Max Kruse der Park mit heimischer und außereuropäischer Flora angelegt worden.

Richard Riemerschmid, geboren 1868 in München, zählte zu den bedeutendsten Gestaltern des europäischen Jugenstils. Er war Architekt, Maler und Kunstgewerbler, er führte volkstümliche Formen in Kunst und Handwerk zu beständigen künstlerischen Werten.

1957 erwarb die Marktgemeinde Mittenwald die Krause-Villa. Nach Verpachtung und gewissenhafter Renovierung in den Jahren 1985 und 1986 wird die unter Denkmalschutz stehende Villa heute wieder bewohnt.
