Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Croatia was part of the former Yugoslavia. A population of 4 million, most of whom are Catholics. Zagreb is the capital. Balanced between the Balkans and Central Europe, this country has been passed between rival kingdoms, empires and republics for thousands of years. If there is an advantage to this ongoing disruption, it is in the rich cultural legacy each has left behind. From Venetian palaces, Napoleonic fortresses, Slavic churches, Viennese mansions to socialist sculptures. But most attraction is the coastline with the remarkable clarity of the water and white pebbly beach. Despite being the fastest rising holiday destination in Europe in the past decade, Croatia still doesn't feel overrun by tourists. There are long sandy and winding beaches too, perfect for lazy days. Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Sveti Jakov Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik is located in the eastern part of Dubrovnik Town in the tiny bay offering a distant look to the Old Town and the island Lokrum. The Wind Surf sailing yacht was just passing by Lokrum island and sailing along the beautiful Dalmatian coast towards the old town of Dubrovnik.

Sveti Jakov Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Dubrovnik is located in the eastern part of Dubrovnik Town in the tiny bay offering a distant look to the Lokrum and Old Town. It is situated about a mile away from the Old Town so you can reach it either by foot or by bus no 5 or 8. Once you arrive near the Sv. Jakov church which is situated on the top of the cliff, just around the corner of the church is a staircase to descend down to the Beach. There are about 160 steps to the beach and I must say – getting back can be a bit of a pain. This beach is a very popular gathering spot among locals, especially in the summer months. Overlooking the Lokrum island, Sveti Jakov has a lovely restaurant and beach bar as well as parasols.

In evenwicht tussen de Balkan en Centraal-Europa, wordt dit land al duizenden jaren doorgegeven tussen rivaliserende koninkrijken, rijken en republieken. De meeste attractie is de kustlijn met de opmerkelijke helderheid van het water en het witte kiezelstrand. Ondanks dat het de afgelopen tien jaar de snelst stijgende vakantiebestemming in Europa is, voelt Kroatië zich nog steeds niet overspoeld door toeristen. Sveti Jakov Beach, één van de mooiste stranden van Dubrovnik, ligt in het oostelijke deel van de stad Dubrovnik in een kleine baai en biedt een verre blik op de oude stad en het eiland Lokrum. Het zeiljacht Wind Surf zeilde net langs het eiland Lokrum en verder langs de prachtige Dalmatische kust naar de oude stad Dubrovnik. Het uitzicht vanaf Sv. Jakov-kerk op de top van de klif is geweldig. Net om de hoek van de kerk is een trap om af te dalen naar het strand. Er zijn ongeveer 160 treden naar het strand en ik moet zeggen - terugkomen kan een beetje vermoeiend zijn. Het strand is een zeer populaire ontmoetingsplek onder de lokale bevolking, vooral in de zomermaanden. Sveti Jakov heeft een mooi restaurant, een strandbar en parasols.
