Pozzuoli is originally a Greek city on the Bay of Naples. Thanks to its sheltered location and pleasant climate, the city grew into a port of interest in Greek times, and Pozzuoli has retained this role over the centuries. Rione Terra is the first city of Pozzuoli dating back to the 2nd century BC. The Rione Terra is located on a hill to better control arrivals from the sea. Pozzuoli was considered the port of Rome. Puteoli, as the city was called in Roman times, was where Roman soldiers were established here in the time of Nero. The amphitheater in Puzzuoli is smaller than the Colosseum, but it is well preserved. Furthermore, a part of a Roman street, which has been preserved in its undamaged condition, includes the facades of adjacent buildings, and other remnants of classic Puteoli can be found here and there in the city. You must see the cathedral: it is built on the remains of the temple of Augustus and it reopened to the public in recent years. The harbor of Pozzuoli reflect typical Mediterranean pastel colours. Ferries from Pozzuoli to Ischia make a stopover in Procida. There are both fast and slow services.

Traditional fisherman working hard for little money. In the morning they leave the port of Pozzuoli with their private little fishing boats. Each fishermen knows how to throw the giacchio, a special and traditional fishing net. Waiting for fish. At the end of the fishing day they bring the fish home. The local fishermen know all the tricks of the trade and have learned how to use this skill over the years. The fisherman displays his caught fish in the blue bins on the pier. You can immediately buy fresh fish including: Atlantic Herring, Seabream, Pandora, Calamaro, Ombrina and Octopus.

Pozzuoli is een van oorsprong Griekse stad aan de baai van Napels.Door zijn beschutte ligging en aangename klimaat groeide de stad al in de Griekse tijd uit tot een havenplaats van belang, en deze rol heeft Pozzuoli door de eeuwen heen behouden. Rione Terra is de eerste stad van Pozzuoli die dateert uit de 2e eeuw voor Christus en het is een uitstekend voorbeeld van stedelijke gelaagdheid door de eeuwen heen. De Rione Terra ligt op een heuvel om de aankomst vanaf de zee beter te kunnen controleren. Pozzuoli werd beschouwd als de haven van Rome. In Puteoli, zoals de stad in Romeinse tijd heette, werden in de tijd van Nero, Romeinse soldaten gevestigd. Het amfitheater in Pozzuoli is kleiner dan het Colosseum, maar het is goed bewaard gebleven. Verder is een gedeelte van een romeinse straat, in vrij gave staat teruggevonden, inclusief de façades van aanpalende gebouwen en zijn her en der in de stad andere resten van het klassieke Puteoli te vinden. Je moet de kathedraal zien: deze is gebouwd op de overblijfselen van de tempel van Augustus en is de afgelopen jaren heropend voor het publiek. De traditionele visser werkt hier hard voor weinig geld. 's Morgens vertrekken ze met hun eigen vissersbootjes. Elke visser weet hoe hij de giacchio moet gooien, een speciaal en traditioneel visnet. Wachten op vis. Aan het einde van de visdag brengen ze de vis naar terug van huis. De lokale vissers op het eiland kennen alle kneepjes van het vak en hebben door de jaren heen geleerd hoe ze deze vaardigheid moeten gebruiken. De visserman stalt zijn gevangen vis in blauwe bakken uit op de pier. Je kan gelijk zijn verse vissen kopen waaronder: haring, kustbaardman, zeebrasem, pijlinktvis, ombervis en inktvis. De herkenningspunten van de haven van Pozzuoli weerspiegelen typische mediterrane pastelkleuren.
