The Ankeveensepad is an unique path. It begins in the village center of Nederhorst den Berg, giving access to a beautiful rural area. You walk through the typical Dutch landscape. During the walk you can enjoy the view over the plains, grassland and swamp forest. The windmill you encounter is build Anno 1793 . The trail leads through an area created by peat extraction. Throughout the Middle Ages cattle were dug here. From the cuttings, the peat was dug out and dried. You can still see the pattern in many places. In this watery area, many bird species breed. The Ankeveense Plassen are part of the Vechtplassen. The peat landscape with pee, narrow ditches and strips of land has arisen from the digging of peat. On either side you have a wide view of the peaks. In spring, Ankeveense Plassen breed many water and marsh birds. In the crack-clear water, special aquatic plants grow. Also in April, the cuckooflower pops out of the grass everywhere. Every day, many villagers, as well as people from outside the village, enjoy the views, the tranquility, the flora and fauna. Not for nothing, the path is part of different walking routes. A special way so. However, project developers think differently. They want to partially sacrifice the Ankeveensepad for a row of new homes. The Foundation for Nature Conservation Ankeveensepad is committed to preserving nature on the Ankeveensepad, and opposes the plans.

in April, the cuckooflower pops out of the grass everywhere at the Wijdemeren. This area you can enjoy the views, the tranquility, the flora and fauna. Het Ankeveensepad is een uniek pad. Het begint in de dorpskern van Nederhorst den Berg, en geeft toegang tot een uniek landelijk gebied. Je wandelt door het typisch Hollandse landschap. Tijdens de wandeling kan je genieten van het uitzicht over de plassen, grasland en moerasbos. De poldermolen die je tegenkomt is een achtkante binnenkruier Anno 1793. De wandelroute voert door een gebied dat is ontstaan door turfwinning. Al in de middeleeuwen werd hier veen gegraven. Vanaf de legakkers werd het veen afgegraven en te drogen gelegd. Je kunt het legakkerpatroon op veel plaatsen nog goed zien. In dit waterrijke gebied broeden veel vogelsoorten. De Ankeveense Plassen maken onderdeel uit van de Vechtplassen. Het veenlandschap met plassen, smalle slootjes en stroken land is ontstaan door het afgraven van veen. Aan weerszijden heb je weids uitzicht op de plassen. In het voorjaar broeden in de Ankeveense Plassen veel water- en moerasvogels. Bijvoorbeeld de kleine karekiet, grauwe gans en rietzanger. Ook zeldzamere vogelsoorten komen voor, zoals zwarte stern en waterral. In het kraakheldere water groeien bijzondere waterplanten als groot nimfkruid, blaasjeskruid en drijvend fonteinkruid. Ook in april duiken overal de pinksterbloemen op uit het gras. Dagelijks genieten vele dorpsbewoners, maar ook mensen van buiten het dorp, van het uitzicht, de rust, de flora en fauna. Niet voor niets maakt het pad onderdeel uit van verschillende wandelroutes. Een bijzonder pad dus. Projectontwikkelaars denken er echter anders over. Zij willen het Ankeveensepad deels opofferen voor een rij woningen. De Stichting Natuurbehoud Ankeveensepad maakt zich sterk voor het behoud van de natuur aan het Ankeveensepad, en verzet zich tegen de plannen.
