Westwell Manor, Oxfordshire - a photo on Flickriver

            Although Westwell Manor is a highly traditional garden, largely following the style of Hidcote and Sissinghurst, the section I like most is this extraordinary, modernist blackwater pool.  Owner Anthea Gibson created the pool in the late 1990s from the original tennis court.  The effect is sublime, I think, with ever-changing reflections from the yews and with the witty flourish of the rowing boat.  The water is apparently treated with a dye.
