This is a 20 shot panorama of the Crux & Carina region of the Milky Way as it rises above twin trees on a wheat farm at Wannamal, 1.5 hours north east of Perth in Western Australia. Also visible are another set of twins, our neighbouring satellite galaxies, the Magellanic Clouds.

This is the very first panorama I have taken with a new, full frame camera, the Nikon d810a which is designed specifically for astrophotography. Here you can see a bit more detail in the h-alpha emitting regions of this part of the sky, which emit light in the deeper red part of the spectrum.
