Pale Swallowtail (Papilio eurymedon) butterfly on flowers of Geranium (Pelargonium, Geraniaceae) in the garden

            This is a beautiful Pale Swallowtail (Papilio eurymedon) butterfly working flowers of a Geranium (really a Pelargonium, family Geraniaceae) in the garden this morning.  (San Marcos Pass, 23 May 2012)

This butterfly is a bit yellow, like the Western Tiger Swallowtail (P. rutulus) - but those are usually very yellow.

It's been hot, dry, and very windy today.  We're under a "Red Flag Warning" for wildfire danger.   The cars on the highway are like rolling fire-bombs...
