RD3479. FO No. 4 at Brig in 1978.

            1970s.RD3479.  I needed some help with this one!  

I know from an Internet search that it’s the Swiss metre gauge Furka-Oberalp Bahn HG 3 / 4 class 2-6-0 rack tank No.4 built in 1913 by SLM in Winterthur.  It ran on the Rhätische Bahn from 1956 to 1959 and was finally withdrawn in 1972 and plinthed in Brig in 1978. 

I suspected that this is where this picture was taken, but many thanks are due to Markus in Gürbetal, Switzerland, for confirming that the location is, indeed, Brig.  

The locomotive was later restored for further use and is now to be found on the Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke.
