            RD28336vid.  In the early summer of 1977, the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales purchased the track in the old London Transport car shed at Drayton Park in North London. 

This had become redundant following the transfer of the Great Northern & City line from London Transport to British Rail and, having spent its whole life under cover in the car sheds with nothing but light weight, slow moving and stationary tube trains running on it, it was in remarkably good condition. 

The Festiniog Railway was able to purchase the now unused track at an advantageous price and volunteers from the London Area Group of the Ffestiniog Railway Society were called upon to lift the track and load it onto a flat wagon for onward transportation to North Wales.
