R1433. B16/3 4-6-0 at York. - a photo on Flickriver

            R1433.  LNER B16/3 Class 4-6-0 61463 at York on a dull and dismal Saturday, 2nd May, 1964.  

The B16s were introduced in 1920 for the North Eastern Railway by the CME Vincent Raven.  They underwent various rebuilds during the LNER years by Nigel Gresley and Edward Thompson creating sub-classes B16/1, B16/2 and B16/3; 61463 became a member of the B16/1 class when rebuilt by Gresley in 1923 and then a B16/3 when rebuilt by Thompson in 1944.  

It was withdrawn at the end of June, 1964, not long after this picture was taken; Drapers of Hull then cut it up in September.  

Sadly, none of the B16 class survived into preservation.
