Old No. 611

            The last Norfolk and Western Railway class J (1941) steam engine was retired in 1959. This streamlined engine was the epitome of steam engine technology; it was designed for passenger rail and it was built for speed. Steam technology was replaced by electric-diesel which is much cleaner, more efficient and has more pulling power.
