Ficus villosa - shingle phase 091110-0352

            Thailand: trail to Namtok (waterfall) Heo Narok, Khao Yai National Park, Nakhon Nayok Province.

This growth form, often only a juvenile phase, is found in several genera of the Araceae and in genera Piper and  Ficus. I am not aware of other plant groups that exhibit it, but -- there's a lot I don't know!

Shrub at lower left is doubtless a Schefflera, one of the most species-rich genera in southeast Asia.
